About

Dallas, then North Texas, then Los Angeles.

I was born in Dallas, Texas in 2001. I did a BA in Media Arts at the University of North Texas from 2019 to 2022, then an MFA in Film, Television and Digital Media at UCLA from 2022 to 2024. I've been in Los Angeles since.

That's a normal path and I'm not going to dress it up as a legend. What it gave me is unusual, though: at UNT I spent three years actually making things on North Texas Television — producing, writing, script supervising, technical directing — rather than only studying them. At UCLA I wrote, and then I taught other people to write.

Education

Two degrees, three years apart.

2022–2024
MFA, Film, Television and Digital Media — UCLA
2019–2022
BA, Media Arts — University of North Texas

Teaching

I taught screenwriting at UCLA. Now I teach photography to teenagers.

This is the part of my CV I'm proudest of and the part people skim, so I'm putting it in the middle of the page. Teaching a craft is the fastest way to find out whether you actually understand it.

St. Paul High School, Los Angeles

Arts Department · 2024–2026

I teach Digital Photography, Introduction to Art, Intermediate Art and AP 2-D Art & Design (all from AY 2024 to the present), and AP Drawing from AY 2025.

AP portfolios are a useful discipline to teach: students have to make a coherent body of work with a sustained investigation behind it, which is the same problem as an editorial series with a smaller budget.

UCLA

2022–2024

  • Teaching Associate, Film & TV Department (2023–2024)
  • Teaching Associate and Teaching Assistant, UCLA Writing Programs (2023–2024)
  • Teaching Assistant, Film & TV Department (2022–2023)

Courses: Introductory Screenwriting (FTV 33) in Winter '23, Spring '23, Winter '24 and Spring '24; English Composition 3 in Fall '23 and Winter '24.

Industry

Inside the building, briefly.

Campfire Studios

Non-Scripted Development Intern · Jan–May 2024

Development from the non-scripted side, which is a different muscle from writing specs and a useful one to have used.

The Arlook Group

Talent Management Intern · Aug–Dec 2023

Six months of seeing how material actually reaches a manager's desk, and what happens to it when it gets there.

On the photography side: Lead Photographer, Wanderlust Pictures since April 2024, Head of Photography at Across the Line, and before either, Senior Portraits Photographer at Lifetouch from June 2022 to August 2023.

What I'm building toward

A writing career, funded by a camera.

The honest shape of my life right now: I teach during the week, I shoot editorial, stills and events around it, and I write. The photography is not a hobby — it won the Los Angeles Photography Awards in 2024, it supports me, and I intend to keep doing it. But the direction I'm pushing is screenwriting, and the goal is a room.

I have four finished specs across four formats, four quarters of teaching screenwriting at UCLA, and two awarded episodic credits. What I don't have yet is someone who's taken the chance. That's the thing I'm asking for, and I've built this whole site around making that decision easy to evaluate.
